Great Plains Family Medicine Residency Program - Faculty and Staff

Director & Family Physician

Dr. Clemenson has been the program's director since its inception. He earned his MD degree from Indiana University and completed his residency at the St. Joseph's Family Practice Residency Program in South Bend, Indiana where he was Chief Resident. He practiced emergency medicine for two years and family medicine for six years in Indiana.

Dr. Clemenson was on the full-time faculty of the University of Oklahoma from 1990 to 1994 and directed the University of Oklahoma Family Medicine Residency Program from 1992 to 1994.

"Since the beginning of our program, we have assembled an impressive group of faculty members and brought on outstanding residents class after class. What I like best about working here is the energy and team spirit of those residents, our dedicated staff and my faculty colleagues."

Special Interests: Patient-centered obstetrics, health maintenance and cost-effective drug therapy

Career Highlights: Has received several teaching awards, is a fellow of the National Institute for Program Director Development, serves as a reviewer of the Journal of the Oklahoma State Medical Association

Hobbies: Nerd stuff (vintage calculators, slide rules, computers), cycling, hiking (especially in the mountains of New Mexico), relaxing with the family, talking about guy stuff (cars) with his son at Purdue, and trying to keep up with his very busy teenage daughter

Favorite Quote: "Good medicine cures sometimes, palliates often, comforts always." - Sir William Osler
